Charles Edward McGlothin passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the age of 87. He was born in Carrollton, Mississippi on August 18, 1924, to Leeander McGlothin and Annie Johnson who preceded him in death.
Charles joined the U.S. Army during World War II. He relocated to Saginaw in 1952 with his wife of forty years, Walter Ella (Goldy) McGlothin, who preceded him in death. He worked 34 years before retiring from General Motors Grey Iron Foundry Power Train Plant. He volunteered over thirty years of service as the ?popcorn man? at Buena Vista High School basketball games.
Charles was a chief usher at Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R.B. Austin, and later joined Corinthian Baptist Church where Reverand Roy Manning is pastor. He is a member of the Friends in Need Club.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters; Charliestine Dillard of Saginaw, and Viola (Joseph) Love of Shreveport, Louisiana; his sons; Emanuel McGlothin of Hanover, Maryland, Charles Lee (KaTina) Womack of Greenwood, Mississippi, and Charles Lawson of Saginaw; sister, Pearl Ellis of Greenwood, Mississippi; brother-in-law, L.V. Duren of Vaiden, Mississippi; daughter-in-law, Sandra McGlothin; 26 grandchildren, several great grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Russell Allen McGlothin; sisters, Clarice Addison, Mary Jones; and brother, Robert Donley.
