Charles Ada Jennings

January 9, 1937 — July 22, 2018

Charles Ada Jennings, “Momo”, peacefully entered Heaven’s Gates on Sunday, July 22, 2018 under the well-organized and compassionate medical care of Henry Ford Hospital. Age 81 years. She was born January 9, 1937 in Florence, Alabama to Junious and Charlotte Skipworth.

Charles Ada joined Albert Jennings in holy matrimony in 1959. She was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Ada retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1999. She loved to cook and feed everyone. You never left her home hungry. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with children, especially taking them to church making sure they knew about God. Momo loved to laugh. Her voice, her laughter and her presence will truly be missed.

Ada is survived by her daughter Connie (Robert) Wingard, Saginaw, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Myrtis Varnado, Ponchatoula, Lousiana, Joyce (Ricky) Woods, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three stepsons, William Jackson, Lousiana, Albert III (Carolyn) Jennings, Florida, Joseph Jennings, Louisiana; three sisters, Allene Bankhead, Florence, Alabama, Mae Ella Wright, Tickfaw, Louisiana, Josephine Hewitt, Hubert, North Carolina; goddaughter, Irma Wells, California; thirty-one grandchildren; sixty-two great grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mercy d White, Florida, Marsha (Pete) Blinko, Martha (Savador) Carrillo, Crystal Robinson, all of California; two brothers-in-law, Bennie (Jane) Robinson, Gerald (Maribel) Robinson, both of Arizona; a very special cousin who is more like a son, Deleon Wells; many other relatives and friends.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband Albert Jennings; parents, Junious and Charlotte Skipworth; brother, Yowanna Skipworth; five brothers-in-law; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Missy and the staff at Covenant-Harrison Six Main, Davita Town Center Dialysis, Jordan R. and Letivya J., along with the rest of the staff at Henry Ford Health Systems ICU POD Four and Dr. Aniruddha Palya and colleagues.
