Carrie Owens

March 4, 1947 — April 13, 2019

Carrie Owens was born March 4, 1947 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the daughter of Jacob and Lula (Williams) Knox. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the age of 72 years.

Carrie was saved at the age of thirteen in the Church of God in Christ in Manchester, Arkansas. She moved from Arkansas to Flint, Michigan and became a member of Harris Temple C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Superintendent T.R. Harris. She remained a faithful member until her baby brother was called to Pastor. She then became a member of Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor Louis C. Knox, Sr.

Carrie was a faithful member and servant for thirty years. She served as an adult Sunday School teacher, in the kitchen ministry, Missionary Circle and on the Mother’s Board. She was a retiree from Ameritech but she never retired from working for the Lord. She enjoyed talking about her Lord and more importantly, serving Him.

A virtuous woman, a woman of faith and a woman about her Father’s business is how Carrie was known and will be remembered. She had a servant’s heart and an unwavering zeal for God. There’s no doubt that on last Saturday, Carrie heard the words, “Well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness!”

Carrie was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her parents, Jacob and Lula Knox; son, Malcolm Owens, Jr.; sisters, Martha, Anna Kay, Dottie Knox; brothers, Henry Jacob, Elder Robert Sr. and Minister Bobby Knox.

She leaves a legacy of love and ministry with her daughter Princess (Duane) Jones, Flint, Michigan; granddaughter, A’Kiyah Moore, Flint, Michigan; sisters, Mary Willis, Katherine Knox, Flint, Michigan, Jane Knox, Plano, Texas; brothers, Elder Charles (Jocelyn) Knox, Flushing, Michigan, Elder Louis (Carolyn) Knox, Flint, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Rizwan Danish, the Genesys Hurley Institute Staff, Dr. Ali Mohammed, Davita Park Plaza Dialysis Staff, Ascension Genesys Hospital Staff, Pastor Louis C.
