Carolyn Bowens

Ms. Carolyn Bowens, born September 21, 1964, in Wrigley, Tennessee, to Lee Thomas Bowens Sr., and Vernice Bowens, gained her wings on May 24, 2022, at her home in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 57 years.


Carolyn was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, where she attended Ruben Daniels and continued her education at Delta College, obtaining her bachelor’s degree. She worked as a teacher for St. Rita’s, and at Morley’s for twenty years, and also at A&D Homecare services until the time of her passing. Carolyn was also a Mary Kay consultant. She attended Kingdom Life Ministries. Her hobbies were reading the Bible, virtual card games, and cooking. Carolyn loved helping people and spending time with family.


She is survived by her companion, Raymond Richardson; one daughter, Monique Bowens, Dickson, Tennesee, three sons, Alonzo (Raianna) Bowens Dickson, Tennessee, Ned Grays, and Ray Richardson of Saginaw, Michigan; she also leaves two stepchildren, Lashanda Swift and Tennellia Richardson Winston; grandchildren, Denzel Bowens, Da’Vonte Spencer, Davon Bowens, Tayah Bowens, Alonzo Bowens Jr., DeKaveon Bowens, Marcus Richardson, Taevion Richardson, Reona Ledford, Michael Werning, Donovan and Malajiah Pittman; great-granddaughter, Iyonnah Spencer; four sisters, Rose Martin, Donna Bowens, Linda (Rodney) Burton, all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Gary Ann (Donald) Moss, Dickson, Tennessee; one brother, John Smith, Nashville, Tennesee; many nieces and nephews including Amon Bowens, Anthony (Angel) Bowen, Marlon Bowens, Donald Swilley, Leeanra Caroll, Tonya Bowens, Lee Thomas Bowens III, Sabrina Bowens, Robert and Janice Collins, Quoniesha Bowens, Te'monte Mincy, Marcus Bowens, and John Smith Jr., and many more; two aunts, Dorothy Smith, Saginaw, Michigan, and Juanita Harris, Columbus, Ohio; host of cousins including Terecia (Curtis) Brown, James (Lisa) Smith, and Thomas Smith Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Anna Swilley, Reller Bradley, Shelia Washington and Lurree McKinney; two brothers-in-law, Arthur and Ronald Richardson. Carolyn will be missed by her friends, Marilyn Thomas, Vanita Boatman, Marlette Barnes, Linda Boatman and Carolyn Surles.


Preceding Carolyn in death are her parents, Lee Thomas Bowens Sr. and Vernice Bowens; brothers, Lee Thomas Jr., James William Bowens and Robert Vernon Bowens; sisters, Laura and Alice Marie Bowens; and a host of other family members.
