Bobbie Jean Sellers (Lansing)

Ms. Bobbie Jean Sellers passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. Age 77 years. She was born January 2, 1941 on Case Street on the Northside of Lansing, Michigan. The daughter of Ila and Hildry Williams. She was a life-long resident of Lansing except for 15 years where she lived in Los Angeles, California.

She graduated from Eastern High School in 1958 where she was affectionately known as “Barbara Jean”. She retired from GM (Fisher Body) after 20 years as the first African American benefits rep.

Mother Sellers was a member of Reachout Christian Center, she loved the Lord and her church. She enjoyed working in the garden and sharing her vegetables with friends and family. Mother Sellers was an avid cook and took pleasure in sharing her food with everyone.

Bobbie, a.k.a. Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt Bob, Barbara Jean will be dearly missed, but we smile because she lived!

She is survived by two children, Major Anthony Sellers of New York, New York and Traci Sellers-Pullen (Stephen) of Suwanee, Georgia; four grandchildren, Sade Diana Sellers and Deshayney Maria Sellers of Los Angeles, California, Lennie Smith and Lonnie Smith of Okemos, Michigan; loving daughter-in-law, Nadia Sellers of Okemos, Michigan; three sisters, Izealia (Doll) Thompson, Sugar Laurese Townsend, both of Lansing, Michigan, Hildry Marie Williams of Cleveland, Ohio; three aunts, Mercie Mae Pennington of Woodson, Arkansas, Odessa Andrews of Dayton, Ohio and Dorcas Pugh, of Lansing, Michigan; other relatives including her precious niece, Damita Jo Ellen Walker, of Lansing, Michigan, her caring first-cousin, Sam (Paulette) Warren, of Lansing, Michigan; adopted son and daughter, Ben and Connie Dilla, of Lansing, Michigan, and many other relatives and friends.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents Ila and Hildry Williams; and two brothers, Sonny Ila Williams and Kenneth Ray Williams.
