Betty Ginn

December 12, 1957 — November 2, 2019

Mrs. Betty Jean Ginn passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Grandview, Missouri. She was born December 12, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Hezzie Lee McKinley and J.D. Davis, Sr.

Betty lived in Saginaw most of her life and was a graduate of Saginaw High School. She loved being the life of the party at every family gathering. Dancing was definitely her specialty and she wasn’t afraid to hit the dance floor and show up anyone who was out there. She had no shame when it came to dancing and challenging anyone, young or old.

Betty also loved a good bingo hall and card game. Just like her brothers and sisters, she could argue with the best of them. And she always had the last word. Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was so full of life and fun. She loved her family immensely, especially those grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved all of us unconditionally and she showed her love for us in everything she did. Betty Jean Ginn was the true definition of a virtuous woman.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Hezzie Lee McKinley and J.D. Davis, Sr.; sister, Rosemary Campbell; brothers, Horace Davis, J.D. Davis II, Johnny McKinley Sr.; niece, Deshawn Davis.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Calvin Ginn; two sons, Lamar (Cynthia) Davis, Saginaw, Michigan, Demetrius Davis, Grandview, Missouri; daughters, Markisha (Kiwani) Taylor, Lasondra Ginn, both of Grandview, Missouri, Calvess Kemp-Burnett, Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Lamar Davis, Jr., Clifford Harris, Demetrius Ramirez, Marcus Jackson, Damon Stephens, Damien Stephens, Christopher Walker, Davonte Davis, R’Reanna Davis, Brandon Davis; one great-grandchild, Lamar Davis III; sister, Mary (Charles) Sledge; brother-in-law, Charlie Ginn, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Carolyn “Miss C.” Brown and Diane.

The family would like to express special thanks to Tamara Davis for helping during this difficult time, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
