Ms. Bertha Lewis departed this earthly life on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center. Age 82 years. She was born June 6, 1932 in Newbern, Alabama to Patrick Lewis Sr. and Inez Goodson-Lewis.
Bertha was a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. She loved spending time with her family. Bertha enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards and bingo. She was an extraordinary woman who never met a stranger. Her wonderful presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to celebrate her legacy three children, Charles Turner (Gracie Hayes) and Inez (Raymond) Tyson both of Saginaw, Michigan and Larry Turner of Madison, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Raymond (Denise) Tyson, Lashawka Miller, Shanelle Tyson, Charles (Brittney) Miller and Schemekia Price; eleven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Robert Goodson and Olivent Lewis both of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Willie James Lewis of Florida; a special niece, Kathy Watkins; special sister-in-law, Cora Lewis; many other relatives and friends.
Bertha was preceded in death by one son, Otis Turner, parents, Patrick and Inez Lewis, two sisters, Carrie Daniels and Amanda Goodson, three brothers, George Goodson, Pat Lewis and Ned Lewis, one great-grand-daughter, Amari Tyson.
The family wishes to express special thanks for the many comforting messages, dinners, floral tributes and other expressions of kindness. A very special thank you to Dr. M.A. Khan and the staff of Heartland Healthcare Center.
