Barbara Ann Pipkins

December 11, 1947 — November 30, 2021

Ms. Barbara Ann Pipkins completed her mission on earth on November 30, 2021, celebrating 73 years of life. She was born on December 11, 1947 to Fannie Canada and Rufus Pipkins, Sr. in Saginaw, Michigan.

Barbara was a strong believer in God and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of New Galilee Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board until her health no longer permitted. Barbara was a homemaker for her family and had a hand in raising multiple generations until her retirement in 2013. Her interests included watching television and movies while drinking Pepsi, taking care of children, doing crossword puzzles and playing games on her phone. Barbara was known to be very caring, well-respected, giving the best and tightest hugs, and was a very good cook with her specialty being “Aunt Barb’s Sweet Potato Pies!” She was always there for everyone and took care of her family.

Barbara leaves to carry on her legacy, two sons and her only daughter; Alfonzie (Trina) Pipkins, Dealtoe Pipkins and Quentenette Pipkins; sixteen grandchildren, Alfonzie Pipkins, Jr., Damarius Pipkins, Damarkous Conwell, Tiffani Pipkins, Ondre Pipkins, Elfonzie Pipkins, T’Aireis Richardson-Pipkins, Al’Jay Pipkins, Kayla Pipkins, Crystal Pipkins, De’Erik Pipkins, DeTrek Pipkins, QuenTynaja Washington, Ashiyah Washington, Tyrone Washington, Jr., and Reggie Wright whom she raised as her own; two bonus grandchildren, Travarion Jackson and Travontis Richardson; twelve great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished; siblings, three brothers, Everitt (Ren’ee) Pipkins, Eddie (Deb)Canada, Paul (Deb) Miller; one sister, JoeAnn Chism; two sisters- in- law, Carleen Long, LeeAnn Donald; two brothers-in-law, Narvell and Warren Long; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara also had a hand in raising multiple children with her first babies being Eddie and Pam Canada, as well as Area Winters and Jabri Pipkins. Barbara impacted many lives, and everyone held a special place in her heart. She will forever be in our hearts.

Barbara was preceded in death by her spouse of over 50 years, Roscoe Long; her mother and father, Fannie Canada and Rufus Pipkins, Sr., father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Arlee Long; siblings, her twin brother, Robert Pipkins, Sylvia Van, Alfonzie Pipkins, Joseph Morgan, Sherman Morgan, baby sister, Pamela Canada, and brother-in-law, Calvin Chism; special nephews, Everitt Morgan and Paul Chism, and her godson, John Edwards.
