Arveal Scott "Pat" (Lansing)

Arveal “Pat” Scott was born January 15, 1932, the fifth of six children born to Leroy and Luella Penner in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. Arveal attended elementary school in Greenville, Mississippi until relocating to Chicago, Illinois to complete her education at Lawson High School.

Arveal met and married the love of her life, Julius “Jude” Scott in Blytheville, Arkansas. The Lord blessed this union of 62 years, with five children: Julia, Pinkie, Cornell, Julius Jr, and Stanley Troy. Arveal and Julius moved their family to Lansing, Michigan in May of 1965. Arveal retired from K-mart after 18 years of faithful service. Arveal loved cooking and entertaining, especially for her husband, children, grandchildren, and close friends. She found joy in celebrating life with her family, through her love for family games and various activities. Arveal received Jesus Christ at an early age and loved ushering and singing in the choir. She loved ministering through giving to those who the Holy Spirit placed on her heart. Giving an encouraging word with a smile was her way of doing the work of the Lord. She attended Living Word Outreach Center for many years until she went to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church to serve with her husband for many years until her health began to decline. She also attended Abundant Grace Faith Church for a short period of time.

Arveal transitioned to Heaven on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the age of 91 years old. She leaves to forever cherish her memory her children, Julia (Calvin) Carter, Jr., Pinkie (Thaddeus) Wills, Cornell (Anita) Scott, Julius Scott Jr., Stanley (Dana) Scott, all of Lansing, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Christina Dungy, Calvin (Carrie) Carter III, Marquis Carter, Leticia Wills, LaTonya (Marcus) Turner, Andrea Lake, Arnon Lake, Goyce Judnetta Redmond, Laketta Redmond, Carvette Redmond, DeEdra (Carl) Rosario, Donte (Jenifer) Bonds, and DaKita Bonds; 23 great-grandchildren, and (5) great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred (Roxie) Penner of Markham, Illinois; (13) Godchildren, Sharon Lawrence, Debra (Garry) Moore, Jimmie (LaVerne) Mickel, Kathy (Charles) Gray, Jenette (Jerry) Gray, Robert (Pearlie) Newsome, Raymond Taylor, and Barbara Crompton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends including Mary Sue Shaw, her friend for almost 60 years.

Arveal was preceded in death by her husband Julius Scott Sr.; her parents, Leroy and Louella Penner; sisters, Niecy Price, Pinkie Ward, and Leatha West, and brother, David Lofton.
