Artisher Smith

May 25, 1952 — November 11, 2019

Ms. Artisher Smith was born May 25, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan to Red and Artisher Smith. She went from labor to reward on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

Artisher was a student of Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1970.” She grew up and was baptized at Mount Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Audrain King. As an adult, she was a member of House of Prayer Apostolic Church where the Pastor is James E. Lewis.

Artisher was a wonderful homemaker. She was kind-hearted, loving, nurturing and a giver. She was fun and outspoken and would speak her mind. Artisher was the joy of the family and the light in the room. When she walked in, the atmosphere changed, as she was the life of the family. Even when she was sick, she was encouraging others and bringing them joy. She was so strong and determined. She was a fighter and set an example of you don’t have to look like what you’re going through. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be greatly missed.

Artisher was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Artisher Smith; siblings, Margaret King, Mildred King, Walter Brown, Tard Smith, Wilbert Polk; granddaughter, Dena Smith; aunt, Cornelius Maxwell; uncles, Tard and Howard Walker.

She leaves precious memories with her children, Toshia (Minister Melvin) Hamilton, Tanesha (Jimmie) Cork, Dionysus Maurice Lowery; grandchildren, Kensha McDonald, Sparkele Lawson, Artisher Lawson, Sharda Lawson, Melvin Hamilton, My’Asia Smith, Demerika Allen, Jacqueline Smith, Rodger Essex, Lestina Smith, Emmanuel Belvin, Ramaiya Lowery, Mariah Lowery, Kamryn Lowery; twenty-six great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Hawkins, Janie (Greg) Demeyers, Lestina Fisher, Lucretia Blakes, Terry Blakes, Pamela (Mark) Davis; brothers, Isaiah Jr. (Ella) Smith, Robert Blakes; godchildren, Angie and Drew Hilliard; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special nephews MyKing Smith and James Johnson, and special brother, Isaiah Smith.
