Anthony Yarber (Lansing)

December 10, 1990 — October 26, 2018

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things” I Corinthians 13:11

Anthony Lorenzo Yarber transited from his earthly body on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 27 years. He was born on Monday, December 10, 1990 to Anthony Lawler and Darlene Yarber in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Anthony and his family relocated to Lansing, Michigan.

Anthony was educated in the Lansing School District. He was “The Sportsman” who played basketball, football, and loved to wrestle especially with his nephew Deondre Yarber Rodriguez. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me”. Philippians 4:13

At a very tender age, Anthony accepted Jesus as his personal savior united with Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Melvin T. Jones. He developed a good relationship with the youth at Union Missionary Baptist Church and participated in various youth programs including the Youth Choir. “Sing to Him, sing praise to Him, tell of all His wonderful acts”. Psalm 105:2.

Mr. Yarber was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He was a peacemaker and a comedian with a warm heart. Anthony was given the nickname of “Scooter”. As a hard worker, Anthony was known as “GED” meaning “get every dime” whether it meant working overtime or working two jobs. His lifelong devotion to his family was absolute and was demonstrated every day that he lived. He gave of himself to help others because of the love that filled his heart. Mr. Yarber was a loving son, father (for his little angels), brother, uncle and friend. His children adored their father. Anthony reminded his mom of the scripture his grandfather would recite “Bring up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)

Many fond memories will be cherished and passed along to all who knew and loved Anthony by his three children, Journeey Yarber Gathers, Taylor James, and Baby Gabriel Yarber Gathers of Lansing; mother, Darlene Yarber; father, Anthony Lawler; four sisters, Shalonda Yarber Blodgett, Keisha Lawler both of Lansing, Antoinette Lawler of Albion, and Joy Coats of Indiana; two brothers, Jason Yarber of Kalamazoo and Chase Langham of Lansing, Michigan; seven aunts, Paulette (Willie) McSpadden of Hiram, Georgia, Mary Walker of Texas, Janice (Daryl) Mayo of Texas, Kim Tanner of Albion, Irma (Daniel) Jean Moore of Chicago, Esterlyn Witfield of Lansing and Mary Alice Pyron of Bangor; seven uncles, Paul Pryon, Jr. of Gobles, Michigan, Charles Pyron of Texas, Keith Pyron and Walter Coleman, both of Lansing, Michigan, Tyrone Lawler, Napoleon Coleman, and Chris Lawler all of Albion, Michigan, Godparents, William and Debra Bowman, God sisters Whitney and Melissa Bowman, special mom, Tammie Dawson, special dads, Carl Langham and Russell Dawson, several nieces, nephew including Deondre who grew up as a brother to Anthony, cousins including Gregory,Julius, Daniel and Shaina Walker, many other relatives and countless friends who loved Anthony.

Those who preceded Anthony in his home-going are: Grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Paul Pyron, Sr and special brother Carl Langham III (Trey).


GOD DESIGNED ME, CREATED ME, BLESSED ME, HEALED ME, DEFENDED ME,
