Anthony A. Smith

April 19, 1960 — December 13, 2021

Mr. Anthony A. Smith passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. He was 61 years old. Anthony was born April 19, 1960, in Saginaw, Michigan, the third of four children born to Annie Smith and the late Arthur Smith Jr.

Anthony, a graduate of Buena Vista High School, worked briefly for General Motors at Saginaw Manufacturing before joining the U.S. Army. He would later marry Valencia Morgan and move to Sarasota, Florida.

Anthony was a "live by his own rules" type of guy who loved fishing, chicken and football. He sported the family nicknames of Goober and Incident. Those who knew him best will remember his sense of humor; a funny guy who made people laugh. They will remember him as a real person who was kind and had a big heart, who really loved family and showed it. To some he was considered a suave dude! with his love for walking suits, hats and dark shades.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty-nine years, Valencia Ann; five children, Shanda (Jay) Rollins, Anthony Smith Jr., Lasonda, Nikea, and Deonte Morgan; grandchildren, Caleb and A' Mari Foster, Breanna Davis, Deytrick Isom, Ja'Querious Worthom "Jibba," Akia Lipsey, Angel Lipsey, and Skye Evans; mother, Annie Smith; brother, Arthur (Joyce) Smith; sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Bell, and Anna Smith.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Smith Jr., grandparents, aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank all who have reached out with kindness, concern and support during this time of loss. Please send all condolences to Paradise Funeral Chapel.
