Annie Burns

Annie Grace Townsend Burns was called home July 11, 2015 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, New York. Age 80 years. She was born in Troy, Alabama on March 18, 1935 to the late Jeff and Jessie Mae Owens Townsend.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age. She was married to Leonard Burns of Medina, New York on June 7, 1965 and was a devoted wife for fifty years. She is best known for her devotion to Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Albion, New York for over 30 years. During her time at St. Paul, she served in many roles such as singing in the choir, serving as an usher, holding a position on the Usher board, and finally, serving as head cook of the kitchen. In later years, she served as Mother of Mount Calvary of Albion, New York under leadership of Rev. James Smith. Some of her favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, and spending time with family.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Leonard Burns; two sons, J.B. Oliver, Jr., and Aaron L. Burns; three daughters, Mary (Oliver) Scott, Martha (Oliver) Foster, and Juanita A. Burns; four stepchildren, Elvis C. Burns, Cynthia D. Burns, Imani (formerly Carolyn) burns, and Melvin Holloway; three brothers, L.C. Townsend, Oliver Townsend, and Willie James Townsend; one sister, Lillie Ruth Davenport; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Annie was predeceased by her parents, Jeff Townsend and Jessie M. Owens Townsend; three sons, Bennie Oliver, Jeff D. Oliver, and Leonard Burns, Jr.; two daughters, Sylvia A. Oliver and Hazel P. Burns; one brother, Godis Townsend; four sisters, Jessie Lee Jackson, Willie Murdis Brundidge, Emma Kate Gaiter, and Hattie Mae Jackson.
The family would like to give special thanks to James Simmons, Dr. Elizabeth Walton-Coleman, New Faith Temple, Mr. Ivan E. Phillips and the Paradise Funeral Chapel, and the Orchard Manor Nursing Home.
