Angela Lashawn Patterson

Ms. Angela LaShawn Patterson passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan, surrounded by family and other loved ones. Age 52 years. Angela was born on September 12, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois to Edna and Jesse Patterson.

Angela was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She attended Buena Vista and Saginaw High Schools. Angela loved cooking, music, shopping, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She was fierce and tough, but her heart was pure and kind. Many experienced Angela’s love language of giving someone a ride to the store, food to eat, or her last two dollars. She didn’t hold her tongue for anyone, but that’s how you knew she loved you. Angela cared very much about having family gatherings at her home, and playing the Blues. Although Angela is no longer here with us, the memories we have will live forever.

Angela leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Larry Patterson; one daughter, Tarenia Patterson; grandchildren, Jordan Patterson, Ty’Reese Mayes, Zakai Patterson, Amiyah Patterson and Trinity Mayes, all of Saginaw, Michigan; mother, Edna West-Patterson, Robinsonville, Mississippi; grandmother, Leona Patterson-Webber, Chicago, Illinois; four brothers, Lester West, West Memphis, Arkansas, Kenneth Patterson, and Anthony Patterson, Saginaw, Michigan, and Demiel Simpkins, Detroit, Michigan; two sisters Shirley Patterson, Saginaw, Michigan, and Latonsha (Tory) Twilley, Casa Grande, Arizona; nine nephews; sixteen nieces; forty-three great-nephews and nieces; a special friend, Frank Conic; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends.

Angela was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Patterson; grandparents, Tommy and Gertrude West; brother, Sammie West, uncles, Tommy West Jr., and Marion West Sr.; aunts, Thelma Williams, and Betsy Lee Bradford.
