Andrew Smith (Lansing)

May 12, 1954 — January 3, 2020

Mr. Andrew Tyrone “Rosco” Smith surrounded with love, transitioned from this life on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 65 years. He was born in Bridgetown, Barbados on May 12, 1954, the son of Norma Smith.

Andrew and his brother, Jeffery were raised in Barbados then moved to New York City in 1975, “the 70’s good times”, he would say. In 1977, Andrew joined the Army and served two years. He then joined the Marines in 1980; was honorably discharged in 1983; serving for total of 5 years. After the Marines, Andrew stayed in New York where he met his future wife, Tracy Parker. Together they raised their five children. Andrew and Tracy moved their family to Michigan and raised the family there. He was a hardworking man who retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working for 17 years and always had something to do on the side.
Andrew loved watching all sports, football, basketball, baseball, hockey, you name it, he watched it. One of his favorite teams was the New Engle Patriots and he never went against Brady! One thing you couldn’t tell him about was a deck of cards! He was a ‘bad’ man with some cards! He had such a big smile and loved the backyard BBQ.

He leaves to cherish his memory his five children, daughter, Nigeria Parker Smith; four sons; Andrew Parker Smith, William Parker Smith, Winston Parker Smith and Brandon Parker Smith; 18 beautiful grandchildren; mother, Norma Smith; brother, Jeffery Smith; aunt Alexis Smith; two uncles, Dennis Smith and Edmund Smith; three cousin, Peter Smith, Paul Smith and Deandrea Smith; niece, Tricia Smith; many other relatives and friends.

Andrew was preceded in death by his wife Tracy Parker Smith and Brandon Kelly, who was like a son to him.
