Alfred Tate (Lansing)

Alfred Otis James Tate passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 56 years. He was born July 1, 1963 in Lansing, Michigan to Alfred Otis James and Mae Francis Tate.

Alfred was a high graduate; after high school he enlisted in the Army National Guards and completed his 4-year contract. Upon his completion of service, he moved on to follow his passion as an entrepreneur. Alfred was a sports fanatic. He could talk to you about any sport, but he especially loved basketball. He was always ready for a challenge in a good game of hoops.

Alfred leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sharon Tate of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Larry Woods of Lansing, Michigan; son, Alfred Tate, Jr. of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren in total, five in Lansing, Michigan and three in Orlando, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephew and great nieces and great nephew that are left behind to be a comfort to one another.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mae Francis Tate; father, Alfred Otis James; brother, David Lee Tate; sister, Cynthia Woods; niece, Val Woods; brother, Larry Woods; Daughter, Ty Tate; daughter, Toi Tate; niece, Ciara Norris; and mother of his son, Michelle Handsome.
