Addie Griffin

July 11, 1928 — July 13, 2021

Mrs. Addie B. Griffin, loving wife, proud mother, beloved grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the age of 93 years. Born July 11, 1928, in Louisville, Mississippi to Foster and Willie (Ivory) Glass, she was one of five children and affectionately known as “Momma Griffin” to many.

Addie lived a life of significant impact through her love and service to family and friends. She attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Mother of the Church, Deaconess, member of the Senior Choir, Mission Ministry, and We Care Ministry. She loved being with family and friends, going to church, and sitting on the front porch.

Mrs. Griffin leaves to cherish loving memories four daughters and four sons, Dorothy Austin, Larry (Wendy) Griffin, Freida Griffin, Mattie (David) Swilley, Steve Griffin, Jerry Griffin, Danny (Danita) Griffin, and Kimberly Griffin of Saginaw, Michigan; nineteen grandchildren, Trevis (Denette) Bulls, Georgia, Derrick Casey, Detroit, Brian Casey, Maryland, Felecia (Leroy) Tinner, Louisville, Kentucky, Trisha (Dudley) Fields, Oceanside, California, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Bulls, Donta, Courtney, Tieesha, David, Kayla Griffin, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Carletta (Khalid) Salaam, Steve Griffin Jr., Danny Griffin Jr. Danisha Griffin,all of Texas, Dimitris (Audrey) Griffin, Deonta (Tori) Griffin, both of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nicole Shepard, Saginaw, Michigan and Tori, Lansing, Michigan; godchildren, Patricia Boulware Casey and Donald Cooper Jr.; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends, including special friends, Earvine and Charlie Watkins and a special daughter, Yolanda Mixon

Addie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Griffin; daughter, Elaine Griffin; parents, Foster and Willie Glass; sisters, Lillie Ruth Glass, Beatrice Eichelberger; brothers, James and Foster Glass Jr.; and special friends Mary Benoit, Maggie Williams, and Reather Pierre.

The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Healthcare, Covenant Healthcare Home Nurses, Pastor Vincent D. McMillon and her St. Paul Church Family, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
