Aaron Mcclain, Jr. "Youngboy"

June 20, 1932 — May 30, 2020

First born son to Aaron Isaiah McClain, Sr. and Icie Bell Pate McClain on June 20, 1932, Aaron McClain was raised, educated and baptized in Pickens County, Alabama. Aaron met Janie (Dunn) Todd, of Greene County, and they were joined in matrimony in 1951. They migrated to Saginaw, Michigan for a better quality lifestyle. Aaron and Janie became parents to Mary Francis, nephew Ernest Todd, Patricia Ann, Troy Lee, Gladys, Loretta, Wanda Lynn, Janice and Leon.

Soon after moving to Michigan, Aaron became an employee of General Motors Company and Greyhound Lines, Inc. He became a union steward with the local American Federation of Laborers. During difficult times, Aaron, who gained the nick-name, Youngboy hosted rent parties to help families raise funds to support their housing. As an active member of True Vine Baptist Church, he became a deacon and assisted in the maintenance of the church.

His life flourished in Saginaw, however, he decided to relocate his family to California. In 1968, he moved his family to Compton, California. He was welcomed by George Robert and Etta Mae McClain who welcomed him into their family. They and God were his anchor and a beacon of light. In spring of 1968, he became employed at Chrysler and Greyhound Lines, Inc. He also started a small business, “McClain Hauling and Delivery Services.”

Aaron embraced his family with much love; he cared for his mother through her different times of concerns and he truly loved his brother, Willie Mac, a Korean War Veteran. He watched over Ernest Todd as he matured into manhood and then enlisted into the United States Army. With Aaron’s compassion for family unity, he took family summer trips to Alabama, Michigan and Louisiana to visit Janie’s family. As his children grew and matured, he remained present as each child chose their life’s path. He was a friend to many but a best friend with Albert Green, Sr. (RIP) of Saginaw, Michigan.

In the midst of his life, Aaron McClain gave Thanks to Tony (Tracy) Henderson for being a faithful servant to God and being led by the Holy Spirit in raising Shountae McClain-Henderson Rice after the loss of his son, Leon.

Aaron was preceded in death by his wife Janie, sons Troy Lee and Leon, daughter Wanda Lynn, father Aaron, mother Icie Bell Weathers and brother Willie Mac. Although sadden by the loss, Aaron said “it's easier to bury a parent than it is to bury a child, but it’s God’s will, so be it”.

With loving memories Aaron Isaiah McClain leaves, Mary Balls (Burnst), Patricia McClain (Willie), Gladys and Edward Cox, Sr., Loretta Sloan (Garry, Sr.), Janice McClain, Ernest and Sun Todd, Melvin and Debra Byrd, Warren Franklin, Jr., first born grandsons, Troy McClain, Jr., Dwight B. McCormick, Jr., Terry Williams, Jr., Aaron Sealie, Garry Lee Sloan, Jr., and Marvel McClain (Taniqua), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
