Obituary for Ella Mary West

Ms. Ella Mary West went home to be with Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2017 following a short illness. Age 77 years. She was born April 18, 1940 in Preston, Georgia to Daisy Shepherd Fuller.

Mary came to Saginaw, Michigan with her family as a result of the construction industry which caused her family to travel to many cities. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and believed in God’s care for her family. Mary was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital, retiring after 26 years service. She loved to spend her leisure time going to the casino pulling that one arm bandit, and meeting new friends. Mary enjoyed listening to the “Oldies, but Goodies, Blues, and some jazz. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the apples of her eye. Mary loved socializing with her friends, talking about the good old days, especially sharing her time with special friends, Mrs. Emma Hibbard, Randy Hastedt, Kelly Shay, Geraldine Green, Nita McClain, and her very special friend, George Smithers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Norma Jean Reid, Joseph Hill, Clarence (Joanne) West, Jr., Deborah West ( Ronald Reed), Patricia West (William Berry), Cheryl West, Daniel West (Louisa Johnston); eight grandchildren, Nakisha, Clarence, Ciara, Chaleea, Mikayla, Daniel, Tony, and Darrian; thirteen great-grandchildren, Terry, Jr., Torrion, JaMarrion, Aniya, Samiyah, Ky’Onna, Clarence, Crreone, Michael, Marcel, Marvel, Cha’Mari, and Daniel, III; one sister, Freddie Mae Fuller; two brothers, Earnest Fuller, Jr., and Alan Fuller; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousin, Mary Ellis; many other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence West; mother, Daisy Shephard Fuller; son, Michael West; brother, Willie Sweeney and granddaughter, Jaleesa Williams.

The family would like to express special thanks to all our family, friends, and St. Mary’s of Michigan-Saginaw for the love you’ve shown during our time of bereavement.
